Early Years

Science:

For every child to develop a sound understanding of the three areas of science through using visual stimuli and giving hands on experience. We aim to equip children with the scientific enquiry skills and vocabulary necessary to ask questions, investigate and explain the changing world around them.

Geography:

Computing and Online Safety:

In computing, we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure that pupils become digitally literate. Through teaching computer science, information technology and digital literacy children will be able to express themselves in an ever-changing, technological world. Using visual stimuli intertwined with real-life experiences, our children will have the skills, confidence and ability to protect themselves online.

PSHE:

To equip every child with the skills to navigate the modern world around them: developing a shared set of values; an understanding of healthy relationships; to be able to articulate their feelings and emotions and understand how to lead a healthy lifestyle. The teaching of values is intertwined across our curriculum recognising our diverse school community and giving children the skills for life.

French:

To develop an enthusiasm for learning French through use of high-quality written, visual and audio stimuli. We aim to increase children’s confidence and fluency in expressing their ideas in oral and written form. We also provide opportunities to use their skills and knowledge in real-life role play situations.

To acquire knowledge and an appreciation of great artists and their work and to develop an understanding of the historical and cultural background of art. Music:

To deliver an exciting, culturally diverse musical education which provides an enjoyable and stimulating learning experience. By encouraging a balance of singing, playing, listening, composing and performing, we aim to develop children's ability to respond to a range of music and increase their confidence to express themselves through music.

PE:

To develop children’s confidence to participate in physical activity and gain a life-long understanding of physical well-being. RE:

To deliver an exciting, innovative curriculum within a diverse school community in order to develop children’s understanding of RE through real-life experiences and engaging visits. Through this, children will develop their knowledge of world faiths and deepen their understanding and awareness of beliefs, values and traditions to ignite their curiosity about cultures within the wider world.

*In accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 section 71, parents have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of RE and acts of collective worship on religious grounds. Parents should make their wishes known to the Headteacher who will ensure that any pupils who are withdrawn are appropriately supervised while the act of collective worship / RE lesson takes place. Pupils can be withdrawn wholly or partly from acts of collective worship only by parents.
