Principal’s Welcome

Welcome back to term 6. It’s hard to believe that we are in the final term of this academic year. After a warm May we are hoping that we get a blazing June and July. With that in mind please try and remember to put sun cream on your child each day and send them in with a sunhat (labelled) and a bottle of water also labelled.

Our Value for June is ‘Cooperation’ and July is ‘Independence’. Our assemblies and day to day school life during June and July will follow these themes. Cooperation is helping one another, working together with patience, and making a collective effort to reach a goal. Independence is taking care of yourself with little help from others.  Independent people are not lazy.  They never ask others to do things that they can do for themselves. Please encourage your children to display cooperation and independence at home and discuss with them how to cooperate and be independent. All of our children from the youngest to the oldest need to develop or strengthen both of these values.

Our topics for Term 6 are set out below.

EYFS

Nursery and Reception have created a joint project about pirates. This will support the nursery children who will be transferring to Reception in September. As a special treat all of the EYFS are going on a trip to Bowood.

Year 1 are focusing on ‘Under the Sea’. There science focus will be animals.

Year 2 are focusing on the Victorians and they will also be looking at ‘The Seaside’. The children will be able to enjoy a trip to the seaside at Weston Super Mare.

Year 3 are studying Celebrations Around the World

Year 4 are enjoying a topic all about Chocolate. They have a trip planned to Cadbury World. Yummy!

Year 5 are exploring the Railways. They have a trip planned to STEAM.

Year 6 are relaxing after SATs – well actually no they have no time to relax as they have a very busy term ahead. They are finding out about The English Civil War. Year 6 have a planned trip to PGL and West Midlands Safari Park.

This is an extremely busy final term with lots of exciting activities to look forward to. Our School Fete and Open Evening will be on Friday 13th July. The children will have their reports available to bring home on this day as well.

All other dates can be viewed on the website calendar but we will also text parents to remind everyone of key events.

Thank you for your continued support. Please remember we welcome all parents into school and look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes

Helen Swanson
