Music at Drove
Music is a universal language that enables pupils to express themselves, develop their creativity and build confidence. At Drove, we believe that every child should experience the enjoyment of making music and have opportunities to sing, listen, compose and perform. Our music curriculum is designed to develop pupils’ RICH musical knowledge and skills progressively, while helping to NOURISH a lifelong appreciation and love of music.
Through regular, carefully sequenced lessons, pupils develop their understanding of the key elements of music, including pulse, rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamics, timbre, texture, structure and notation. Charanga supports the delivery of our curriculum, providing pupils with opportunities to revisit and build upon prior learning as they move through the school. Lessons combine listening and appraising, singing, playing instruments, improvising, composing and performing, enabling pupils to EMBED their musical knowledge and become increasingly confident and thoughtful musicians.
