At Drove, our children study a variety of different biology, physics and chemistry topics taken from The National Curriculum. This encompasses a huge range of topics from Plants and the Human Body to Sound and Space.

As well as progressing their knowledge and understanding of science, we are equally committed to developing their scientific enquiry skills. These involve the children ‘thinking like scientists’ and knowing a variety of processes and skills they can apply to their practical work as they learn more about the world around them.

From year 1, the children are assessed at least once in each topic area covered in their year group. The purpose of our assessments is to develop their scientific enquiry skills, whilst performing a practical which also requires them to understand the science behind what they are testing.
