My name is Amelia Scott, and I am a trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) with Barnardo's Swindon Trailblazer Team.
My job is to support children and young people who are beginning to struggle with feeling low, anxious or worried. The support I offer is called low-intensity cognitive behaviour therapy (LI-CBT) and it focuses on understanding how our thoughts and actions impact how we feel. It is different to counselling and focuses more on 'the here and now' and can teach children skills and techniques to manage how they feel, to cope with life's ups and downs.
I work in several schools in Swindon and will be based in Drove Primary School one day a week. I am passionate about Mental Health and spreading the important message of how helpful it is to speak to someone if you are struggling.
If you feel that your child is struggling with their mental health and would benefit from meeting with me, you can speak to your child's class teacher or the school SENCO about making a referral.
I am looking forward to becoming a member of the school community at Drove Primary School and getting to know you all along the way.
