In June, Drove’s BSL Ambassadors held a Cake sale, Teddy Tombola and Guess the sweets stall to raise funds on behalf of local charity, Empower the Gambia.

As part of their learning journey to support Deaf awareness and Sign Language, the ambassadors learnt that others around the world do not have the same access to education.

Empower the Gambia are currently running a project to teach and empower rural villages support their Deaf children by implementing Gambian Sign Language into their school and providing training to support their Deaf children’s learning.

The children were proud to raise £153.50 to donate towards the project, which will provide the students with a trained teaching assistant for three months.
