This week, we were so delighted to finally open an exciting and brand new facility at Drove Primary School that will make a huge difference for our pupils- our new sensory room! The sensory room provides children with complex and sensory needs a calm and safe space to develop emotionally and will have a huge impact of their wellbeing.
Our Associate Principal, Bryony Bardwell had the pleasure of opening up the space for us. The room is a fabulous addition to our growing school and is something we have never had a Drove Primary School before! This will be a therapeutic space with a variety of equipment that provides our pupils with a personalised sensory input, helping them to calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others. Our children will have opportunities to self-regulate their behaviours, have intensive interactions and learn to take turns and share with resources we have and will keep adding too! With the Engagement Model (DFE, 2020) now statutory for all schools, children will have an opportunity to have meaningful observations in a way that helps and improves the ways in which we can help every child succeed.
Keep looking back on our twitter, facebook and school website page for our children using the sensory room.
