Below are our intent statements for each curriculum area. Each area of the curriculum contributes towards achieving our whole school intent and subsequent implementation and impact.
Through high standards of language and literacy, The White Horse Federation aims to equip every pupil with a strong command of the spoken and written language whilst developing a love of literature. Pupils will become confident in transcription (spelling and handwriting) and composition (articulating ideas and structuring them in speech and writing). We foster a ‘can do’ attitude where children are encouraged to write fluently, having regular opportunities to plan, orally rehearse, write, edit and revise to ensure the writing is coherent, cohesive and purposeful.
Our aim is for all children to be able to become fluent in the fundamentals of maths, reason mathematically and solve problems by applying their mathematics. Our children develop a wider range of mathematical vocabulary, through hearing and speaking, in order to present justification, argument and proof. Children experience mathematics through a range of visual stimuli, which will allow them to be able to make rich connections across mathematical ideas, which will prepare them for life in an ever changing, modern world.
For every child to develop a sound understanding of the three areas of science through using visual stimuli and giving hands on experience. We aim to equip children with the scientific enquiry skills and vocabulary necessary to ask questions, investigate and explain the changing world around them.

In computing, we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum to ensure that pupils become digitally literate. Through teaching computer science, information technology and digital literacy children will be able to express themselves in an ever-changing, technological world. Using visual stimuli intertwined with real-life experiences, our children will have the skills, confidence and ability to protect themselves online.
To equip every child with the skills to navigate the modern world around them: developing a shared set of values; an understanding of healthy relationships; to be able to articulate their feelings and emotions and understand how to lead a healthy lifestyle. The teaching of values is intertwined across our curriculum recognising our diverse school community and giving children the skills for life.
To develop an enthusiasm for learning French through use of high-quality written, visual and audio stimuli. We aim to increase children’s confidence and fluency in expressing their ideas in oral and written form. We also provide opportunities to use their skills and knowledge in real-life role play situations.
To acquire knowledge and an appreciation of great artists and their work and to develop an understanding of the historical and cultural background of art. Children will learn practical techniques and tools to create a piece of work and develop the vocabulary to discuss a piece in relation to elements of art, for example style, technique and line
To deliver an exciting, culturally diverse musical education which provides an enjoyable and stimulating learning experience. By encouraging a balance of singing, playing, listening, composing and performing, we aim to develop children's ability to respond to a range of music and increase their confidence to express themselves through music.
To develop children’s confidence to participate in physical activity and gain a life-long understanding of physical well-being. Through providing children with the skills and knowledge, and embracing and giving children the opportunity demonstrate and work within a shared set of values (particularly teamwork and co-operation) children will gain the knowledge needed to lead a healthy lifestyle.
To deliver an exciting, innovative curriculum within a diverse school community in order to develop children’s understanding of RE through real-life experiences and engaging visits.
